Have you ever thought I wish I could post on all my social media platforms at once? Or I wish I could schedule posts for the days where I can’t post manually?
All. The. Time!
And the thought of learning a whole new system to do these things for me scared the living daylights out of me for a long time. But on October 23rd, I bit the bullet and decided to learn how to use Hootsuite.
October 23rd was almost a week ago by the time this post goes live online, but that’s just me testing out my newfound skills on the scheduling aspect of the site (and I just had to post about David Schwimmer being a criminal on the 24th!). If all has gone well, you should also be able to see the link to this page on my Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram feeds too.
While this blog post isn’t in any way sponsored by or affiliated with Hootsuite, I do have to say, thank god for the way Hootsuite does things!
The learning process was easy to use and understand. It guided me through the whole course with no problems at all, and I passed the certification exam on the first try (even though they let you take the exam as many times as is necessary for you to pass)!
Every ‘chapter’ of learning is split into short, easy to digest videos. The videos themselves are well-made and show you exactly what you need to do, and there is an option of calm voice-overs or close captioning. Also, you can watch one a week/month/year, binge them all at once, or anything in between – perfect!
After each chapter, you’re also given the option to delve into some additional materials, which I found useful on more than one occasion.
Although I knew nothing of analytics, streams, bulk posting or the Hootsuite App Directory before, I can now safely say that the busy screens of busy people don’t scare me as much anymore.
Normally, it costs $99 to take the Hootsuite exam, but luckily for me, I was able to do it for free through my course at the University of South Wales. But even if you don’t have access to the free course through a university, Hootsuite do provide free training videos online for anyone to start learning!
So, if you want to be able to use social media more effectively, follow the link I followed and join me as a certified Hootsuite user!
